Description
The character Arumajirokku, whose name is more commonly romanized as Armadillong, is a kaijin, or monster, created by the secret terrorist organization Shocker. He is an armadillo-themed creature, and his personal emblem is a silhouette of his own face. He was originally developed and tested by the Shocker branch in Brazil, where he carried out a brutal attack that resulted in the death of an entire family, leaving only one woman alive to seek revenge against him. Following this test, he was sent to Japan to work directly under the high-ranking Shocker general, Oberst Zol.
As a monster designed for combat, Arumajirokku is driven by his loyalty to Shocker and his mission to eliminate the Kamen Riders. He is a formidable and resilient fighter, with his most defining characteristic being his incredibly durable, armor-like skin. His primary combat ability involves curling his body into a tight, armored ball and launching himself at his opponents with explosive force, functioning as a living battering ram. However, this great strength comes with a critical and exploitable weakness. While his back and outer shell are nearly impenetrable, the armor on his belly is significantly weaker and lacks the same level of protection.
His role in the story is that of a recurring and persistent antagonist. He first appears to fight against Kamen Rider #2, where his armored shell proves strong enough to withstand the Rider's signature Rider Kick, a testament to his defensive power. Despite this initial advantage, Kamen Rider #2 eventually defeats him by discovering his weak point and delivering a direct Rider Kick to his unprotected belly. True to the nature of Shocker's monsters, Arumajirokku is later resurrected to continue his missions. He returns in a subsequent operation to abduct children for testing a deadly poison gas, though this plan is foiled by Kazuya Taki, an ally of the Riders. He is revived once more to face Kamen Rider #1, participating in a scheme to capture and brainwash the hero. Even when the brainwashed Rider #1 appears to have defeated Rider #2, Arumajirokku returns to finish off Rider #1, only to be destroyed permanently when both Riders team up to exploit his abdominal weakness again. His final appearance is as a brief member of a monster army in the film Kamen Rider vs. Shocker, where he does not play a significant active role. Throughout his appearances, Arumajirokku has key relationships with his direct superior, Oberst Zol, and his primary adversaries, Kamen Rider #1 and Kamen Rider #2, serving as a recurring physical challenge for them to overcome. His development is minimal, functioning primarily as a powerful but flawed weapon for Shocker whose repeated defeats stem from the same unaddressed vulnerability.
