In the town of Mifuse, time has stopped. Following a massive explosion at the local steelworks, the sky cracked, and the town became sealed off from the outside world. No one can leave, no contact is possible, and the days repeat endlessly—the same radio broadcasts, the same television shows, the same frozen winter. The townspeople do not age, and their leaders forbid any change, believing that maintaining the status quo will allow time to eventually flow again.

Within this stagnant world lives Masamune, a third-year middle school student going through the motions of a life that no longer progresses. His days are monotonous and forbidden from inviting any real transformation. His mysterious classmate, Mutsumi, disrupts his routine by leading him into the fifth blast furnace of the abandoned steelworks. There, inside the industrial relic, Masamune encounters a wild, wolf-like girl who cannot speak. She is feral and untamed, yet her face is startlingly identical to Mutsumi's.
