Description
A 28-year-old salaryman named Takeru Kamishiro, weary of his monotonous routine, dies and is brought before a god who explains that the magical planet Madeus is trapped in a cycle of civilizational collapse. To break this pattern, the god grants Takeru a suite of powerful abilities—enhanced physical strength, vast magical force, an infinite storage bag, and a skill called Search that allows him to locate and appraise rare materials, minerals, and treasures with preternatural accuracy—and reincarnates him there as a material gatherer.

Takeru awakens near the village of Tormi and immediately begins gathering resources to sell. His first major commission is to collect Misril ore from a dangerous mountain, where he accidentally disturbs the ancient dragon Voldius. Impressed by Takeru's magic, which surpasses his own, Voldius asks him to help an unhatched egg tainted by stagnant miasma. Takeru pours his magic into the egg, and a newborn dragon hatches. The dragon, named Bee by Takeru, becomes his inseparable companion—a small, gluttonous, and affectionate creature who possesses sharp instincts, spirit magic, and a keen aptitude for exploration.

Takeru and Bee begin a slow, leisurely journey across Madeus, collecting materials to sell and trade. Their travels bring them to the commercial city of Belcaim, where Takeru registers as an adventurer. There he meets Clayston, a stoic lizardman warrior whose old back wound Takeru heals with magic-infused water, causing Clayston to evolve into a dragonoid. Clayston becomes a steadfast friend and ally. They also encounter Brolite, a high elf with an appetite as large as her skill with dual short swords. Brolite is the daughter of a high elf elder and is on a quest to find a divine horse for her sister. The party grows further with the addition of Hofvalpnir, also called Pnir, a sacred ancient horse and guardian of Lake Galeus.

The narrative arcs alternate between easygoing material-gathering escapades and more serious interludes. Takeru's quiet search for herbs, ores, and monster parts sends ripples through the world's economy and politics, often without his realizing it. Episodic adventures include clearing a goblin attack, exploring a cursed mine infested with a giant crab, treating the wife of a local lord for Ivell poisoning by seeking a rare flower at a polluted lake, and participating in a material-gathering competition. A major arc concerns the high elf tribe and their guardian deity Lybel Arina. Takeru and his companions travel to the elf village, where they learn of a forbidden custom and attempt to rescue the tribe by finding the guardian god in the Pnebuve Valley. The story also involves a confrontation with a figure named Engashu and deeper revelations about the cycle of collapse that Madeus faces, hinting that Takeru's seemingly mundane actions are subtly but permanently altering the planet's future.
