Description
On his first day transferring to a new high school in Tokyo, an ordinary and good-natured boy named Momota Tomari is kidnapped by a group of delinquents. Before he can even find his classroom, he is forcibly recruited into the High school Intelligence of Party, a club known as H.I.P. that acts as a freelance trouble-shooter for any problem occurring within the school.
The H.I.P. is led by Juzo Saotome, a belligerent and eccentric repeating student well into his twenties who still wears a student cap and smokes cigars. His philosophy is rooted in an overbearing sense of meddling he calls the truth of youth. The other members include Yuko Ichinose, a cute but tough former sukeban gang leader known as the Sharpened Pencil Yuko who now uses roller skates and lollipops as her trademarks, and the quiet but strong judo club member Taiki Yamashita. The groups symbol is an inverted heart that resembles a peach, which also serves as their emblem.
After being forced into the group, Tomari finds himself caught in the middle of a violent rivalry between Yuko and a delinquent faction led by a girl known as Maria of the Triangle Ruler. The conflict escalates to a showdown in a wrestling ring where the sparks between the two female fighters fly. Tomari must navigate this chaotic world of gangsters and oddball club members while dealing with his own growing, awkward feelings for Yuko.
The television drama adapts the manga by Furusawa Jun and aired as a single 84 minute special episode. It was broadcast on September 21, 1987, as part of Fuji Televisions Monday Drama Land programming block. The cast includes Noriyuki Nakamura as Momota Tomari, Junji Takada as Juzo Saotome, and a young Chisato Moritaka in a supporting role. The drama serves as the final new fictional work to air in the Monday Drama Land slot before the series concluded its run.
