Description
In a near-future world where the classic robot anime Mobile Suit Gundam sparked a global craze, a new generation has taken the obsession to the next level. The sport of Gunpla Battle dominates the e-sports landscape, where competitors scan their custom-built model kits into a virtual reality system to pilot full-sized Gundams in simulated combat. Victory depends not just on piloting skill, but on the builder's expertise in assembly, painting, and modification, as each model's physical craftsmanship directly translates into attack power, defense, and special abilities in the digital arena.
The story follows Hiro Suzuki, a high school freshman who once dreamed of Gunpla glory. Four years earlier, he and his close friends formed Team Bright with the goal of winning their local tournament, pooling their savings to purchase a prized RX-78-2 Gundam model known as the Nanahachi. But the night before the competition, the Gunpla vanished from their bag. In the ensuing argument, a heartbroken Hiro accused one of his teammates of theft, and Team Bright disbanded without ever entering the tournament.
Now in high school, Hiro receives an unexpected message calling the old team back together. The members reunite: Takumi Shimizu, a dexterous and gentlemanly builder in charge of Gunpla assembly and painting; Kentaro Narita, a sharp-tongued but brilliant programmer; Taichi Nakamaru, the social and resourceful commander whose family property provides their secret base; and Sota Matsumoto, a cool and gifted weapons specialist whose Armageddon modification technique is legendary for its power. Each has grown in different ways, but old wounds remain.
As Hiro and his friends aim once again for the national tournament, they must overcome not only rival teams but also their own lingering distrust and unresolved conflicts. The series follows their journey through regional qualifiers, where disagreements threaten to tear them apart, friendships are tested, and each member must learn to trust one another again. Through victories and defeats, the members of Team Bright gradually mature, discovering that the true battle is not just about winning championships but about rekindling the bonds that once made them unstoppable.
