After a painful breakup with her boyfriend Hiratsuka, Chiemi returns home to her family's house, where she lives with her younger sister Eri and their father. Hiratsuka had insisted he liked girls with long hair, so Chiemi grew hers to great length. Now, heartbroken and resentful, she decides to cut it off. As Eri goes downstairs to find scissors, Chiemi is suddenly and inexplicably decapitated in her bedroom. Eri finds her sister's headless body and later discovers Chiemi's severed head in the attic, suspended by her own hair from the rafters. The hair seems to have taken on a malicious, sentient will of its own. Eri's father goes to check the attic and dies of fright after encountering the head. The hair then frees itself and, dragging the head behind it, travels to Hiratsuka's apartment. There, the hair attacks him, strangling and dismembering him as an act of vengeful retribution for his mistreatment of Chiemi. The story revolves around the themes of suppressed anger, the physical manifestation of emotional pain, and the supernatural horror that arises from a seemingly innocuous act of cutting one's hair.
