Description
The world is filled with supernatural objects known as vanits, each housing a distortion of reality. Shin Karamori wields one such artifact, an azure sword that granted his wish to live and bestowed upon him incredible combat abilities, yet it carries a heavy price by cursing all those around him. Accompanied by an artificial young girl named Archive, whose very fate is dictated by the pages of a mysterious book, Shin throws himself into bloody battles against other vanits. His ultimate goal is to save an important figure from his past, a mission he is willing to accomplish at any cost, even if it means sacrificing Archive’s life. The tragic pair’s relentless fight takes an unexpected turn when they encounter a high school girl, an event that sets the wheels of fate rapidly spinning toward an uncertain future of either annihilation or something else entirely. The narrative follows Shin Karamori as the conflicted wielder of the cursed Azure Sword, whose power grants him the means to fight but isolates him with its harmful aura. His companion Archive is an artificial being whose existence is tethered to a book, making her fate precarious and central to the story’s emotional conflict. The high school girl they meet serves as a catalyst, her introduction threatening to accelerate their journey toward a potentially devastating conclusion. Notable narrative arcs within the series explore Shin’s desperate quest to save his important person from the past, the bloody and violent confrontations with other supernatural vanits, and the moral dilemma posed by Shin’s willingness to let Archive perish for the sake of his mission.
