Someone has stolen Megumin’s heart. Enamored with a supercool masked man from the legendary Silver-Haired Thief Brigade and captivated by the group’s outlaw lifestyle, the young arch-wizard resolves to form her own crew of bandits to support her newfound idols. Taking place between the ninth and tenth volumes of the main Konosuba series, this two-volume spin-off shifts the focus from the usual party of Kazuma, Aqua, and Darkness to the crimson-haired explosion fanatic and an unlikely new team. Her self-assembled thieves are a collection of notorious problem children: Yunyun, a girl who desperately wants friends but cannot seem to make any; Iris, a super-overpowered princess longing for adventure; and Cecily, a priestess with highly questionable morals. As the explosion-obsessed leader of this band of unlikely burglars, Megumin must attempt to pull the group together when real trouble strikes and the stakes become higher than just a simple heist.

In the first volume, titled We Are the Megumin Bandits, the team embarks on a mission inspired by tales of chivalrous thieves. Their goal is to support their idols, but their antics quickly spiral out of control as their personalities clash and their combined lack of common sense leads to chaos. The narrative later shifts dramatically when Kazuma’s party visits the estate of the Tennessee family, rivals of Darkness’s household led by a woman named Carleen. Suspicious about the monsters mysteriously surrounding the estate, Kazuma, Chris (the hidden identity of the thief who inspired Megumin), and Megumin infiltrate the manor to uncover the truth and attempt to steal a divine weapon used to summon the creatures.

The second volume, Deadbeat Busters, finds Megumin eager to go on adventures while her usual party members are unwilling to join her during the rainy season. She once again gathers her side party of Yunyun, Iris, and Cecily to pass the time. They encounter an eccentric scholar obsessed with rare monsters who seeks to impress a woman he loves, leading the group into battles against giant King Toads and poisonous slimes. As the chaos escalates, the adventure eventually draws in the rest of Kazuma’s original party to confront a powerful Crystal Liger. Throughout these struggles, Megumin learns a valuable lesson about leadership and realizes that while adventures with new friends are fun, there is truly no party quite like her chaotic home with Kazuma, Aqua, and Darkness.
