Description
Lizel, the young and brilliant prime minister of a powerful nation, is suddenly transported from his own fantasy world to a strange, unfamiliar city. Where most would panic, the calm and collected noble instead decides to treat the entire situation as an extended vacation, confident that his people back home will eventually find a way to retrieve him. His first order of business is to hire a guide to help him navigate this new world, leading him to Gil, a famously reclusive and powerful B-rank adventurer known by the moniker Single Stroke for his ability to fell any enemy with a single sword swing.
The two form an unlikely partnership, with the pragmatic Gil agreeing to protect the curious Lizel for an initial contract of one month. To gain an identity and a means to support himself, Lizel joins the Adventurer's Guild, embarking on various quests with Gil that range from battling dragons in underground labyrinths to guarding a chocolate shop. As they work together, the duo officially forms a party and begins to make a name for themselves. Lizel's noble charm, sharp intellect, and genuine curiosity win over many people he meets, including a kind-hearted young appraiser named Judge, who is the grandson of a wealthy merchant. When Judge requests their protection on a trip to the mercantile capital of Marcade to visit his grandfather, Lizel happily accepts the opportunity for more sightseeing, while Gil looks forward to testing his strength against the monsters in Marcade's famous labyrinth.
Upon arriving in Marcade, the party's adventures intensify. They face not only the challenges of the labyrinth but also unexpected dangers, such as being attacked by a stranger who mistakes Lizel for someone else, revealing that there may be a mysterious plot targeting the young noble. The party also encounters a colorful cast of characters, including Stud, an emotionless guild employee with a dark past; Eleven, a mischievous snake beastman bandit; and a reclusive count named Shadow. As Lizel's reputation grows, he is promoted from E-rank to D-rank, but the threats become more serious when they are attacked by a group called the Forky Gang, making it clear that someone is specifically targeting Lizel. Despite these dangers, Lizel maintains his laid-back demeanor, treating every new development as simply another part of his relaxing holiday, whether he is dealing with city-threatening invasions or using his political skills to solve puzzles in a new labyrinth. The narrative balances lighthearted, slice-of-life quests with larger dramatic arcs, such as a storyline involving a variant leader, while the underlying mystery of how Lizel will eventually return to his own world remains a quiet but persistent thread.
