Manga
Description
A small bar sits a fifteen-minute walk from the nearest train station in a questionable part of town. This is the setting for Taishū Sakaba Wakao - Wakako-zake Betten, a spin-off of Chie Shinkyu's popular food manga Wakakozake. The story shifts focus from the original series' protagonist, the solo drinker Wakako Murasaki, to the master of this modest establishment, a man named Wakao. He runs his pub with a perpetually serious expression, serving a simple and honest menu of everyday favorites like rolled omelettes and clams. Unlike the flashier bars in the area, Wakao does not believe his own shop is anything special, and the narrative follows the quiet, routine interactions with the regular customers who find their way to his door.

Written by Nenzu Nyanbara, the manga was serialized on Tokuma Shoten's Web Comic Zenyon website from January 2019 to July 2022 and was collected into seven volumes.
