Description
A high school boy's unrequited love twists into a violent compulsion after he is infected by a mysterious virus. Taku Kamishiro, a student who prefers tending to his school's plants over socializing, has always harbored feelings for the outgoing Mika Hanazono. When Taku tries to intervene in a street attack, he is exposed to a strange pathogen that rewires his brain. From that moment onward, the sight of Mika triggers vivid, uncontrollable urges to kill her in brutal ways.
Konya wa Tsuki ga Kirei desu ga, Toriaezu Shine -last- is the direct sequel and final arc of the story originally titled Can You Just Die, My Darling? (also known as I Love You. So I Kill You.). This concluding chapter picks up precisely where the previous ten-volume series left off. The central conflict escalates as Taku and Mika are no longer simply running from his murderous impulses. They now face new, more complex difficulties, including former allies who have become obstacles. The narrative follows their desperate search for a cure to the bloodthirsty affliction, sometimes called "ID," which forces infected individuals to target the people they love most. Their mission is to save Mika from a fate worse than death, all while Taku struggles to suppress the part of himself that wants to destroy the person he cares for most.
The story is set in a contemporary Japanese high school environment that is gradually overtaken by the growing threat of this psychological infection. The arc ran from March 2019 to January 2021, spanning five collected volumes. As the plot drives toward its climax, Taku and Mika are forced to confront both external enemies and the terrifying possibility that their bond cannot survive the disease. The narrative concludes with a resolution to their struggle, followed by an epilogue chapter that provides final closure to their story.
