Description
Two college roommates, Aki and Haru, have been best friends since high school. Now living together in a quiet area near their respective universities, they have settled into a comfortable domestic routine centered around one simple pleasure: sharing meals. Easygoing Aki, who loves to cook, takes charge of preparing affordable homemade dishes ranging from tomato salt ramen to fried chicken and plum liqueur, while the more reserved Haru, a photography student with a neat streak, handles the cleanup and eagerly devours everything Aki makes.
Their shared apartment becomes the heart of the story as the two navigate the ups and downs of young adulthood alongside a close circle of friends, including Haru's older sister Rikka. Each season brings new recipes and small adventures, but the greatest challenge lies not in the kitchen but in the uncertain future ahead. While Haru discovers a passion for portrait photography after his professor praises a snapshot he took of Aki, leading to a potential opportunity to study abroad in England, Aki finds himself struggling with a lack of direction, unsure of what career path to pursue.
The central conflict emerges when Haru hesitates to tell Aki about the study abroad offer, worried about burdening him while he is stressed over job hunting. When Aki learns of the opportunity from friends during a Halloween party, he is shocked and hurt that Haru kept it from him. The news forces both young men to confront their deepest fears: Haru cannot imagine a future without Aki by his side, while Aki worries that their journey together is ending just as he begins to recognize that his feelings for his best friend might be changing into something deeper. Through the simple act of cooking and eating together, the story explores the bittersweet transition from youth to adulthood and the question of whether a close friendship can rise into something more.
