Description
Hatori is a high school boy who does everything smoothly yet finds no passion in life, considering himself extraordinarily ordinary. His routine existence begins to change when he encounters Furuta, a girl with a special ability to perceive extraordinary things hidden within their everyday streets. Furuta, who as a young girl received a mysterious sock from Santa Claus in Finland, possesses keen eyes that can detect unusual and paranormal activity all around her. The story follows the two teenagers as they wander through their hometown discovering bizarre and wondrous phenomena together, with hints of romance woven into their adventures.

The series takes place in a seemingly ordinary Japanese town where supernatural elements quietly coexist with daily life. As Hatori accompanies Furuta on her explorations, he begins to notice small wonders he would have previously overlooked, from hidden magical occurrences to strange artifacts and creatures lurking just beneath the surface of normalcy. Their relationship develops through shared discoveries, with Hatori serving as a calm, stoic anchor to Furuta’s energetic and eccentric personality.

In one of the early chapters, Furuta invites Hatori to her private place, where he steps into an upside-down world where heaven and earth have been reversed, marking his first significant experience with the extraordinary. Together, they explore locations such as batting centers and facilities with vending machines, finding wonder in unexpected places. The series balances episodic adventures with hints of deeper mysteries, including the introduction of the Neighborhood Watch, a group that appears to manage or contain the strange phenomena in the town. A character named Hino carries a mysterious tiger curse, while another named Seto possesses a riddle book that may hold significance for understanding or neutralizing the wonders they encounter.

As the story progresses, Hatori transitions from passive observer to active participant. In Chapter 7, he demonstrates tactical intelligence by planting a phone tracker on the Neighborhood Watch’s truck, suggesting an upcoming infiltration of their hidden underground garage, which may serve as a central hub where wonders are cataloged and contained. Fan theories speculate about whether Hatori himself might be a wonder, given his immunity to distortion effects and his ability to remain calm in absurd situations. The narrative quietly builds toward something larger beneath its cozy supernatural surface, with hints of a larger plotline involving the true structure behind the wonders and the moral complexities of those who manage them.
