Manga
Description
A massacre erupts in a cafe filled with young people. Security camera footage reveals the attacker is an unarmed, bald-headed man who appears to kill his victims with a single touch. The police investigation identifies the suspected murderer as Tarō Yamada, a middle-aged man with an otherwise unremarkable life. When officers search his apartment, they discover the decomposing corpse of an unidentified woman, deepening the mystery surrounding him. The story follows the investigation into these seemingly impossible deaths, exploring themes of hidden identity and unexplained violence. The main character is Tarō Yamada, the soft-spoken and unassuming middle-aged suspect at the center of the case. The narrative is set in contemporary Japan, shifting between the public spaces where the attacks occur and the dark, confined interiors of the protagonist's private life. The primary narrative arc follows the police investigation as they attempt to understand the nature of Yamada's power and his connection to the dead woman in his apartment, moving from the initial shock of the massacre to a deeper psychological exploration of the killer. A separate and unrelated series, Don't Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro, is the major work by an artist who uses the pseudonym Nanashi, but it is a romantic comedy about a shy art student and his teasing underclassman, not a manga titled Nanashi.
