A traveling monk named Hiki journeys across the countryside accompanied by a lively monk and an entertainer. They encounter a mysterious spirit called Oboro, who suffers from amnesia and whose true identity is shrouded in mystery. Central to their travels is a strange power known as Uta, possessed by Nikko, which seems to hold the key to the supernatural events they witness. As Hiki and his companions move from place to place, they become entangled in Oboro's quest to recover her lost memories, while the true nature of the Uta power gradually reveals itself.
