Description
In 1971, once-popular manga artist Yoshihiko Kurumizawa finds himself trapped in a major creative slump. As the pressure mounts with each rejected submission, his career spiraling toward obscurity, he encounters a young and promising artist named Kensaku Hata. Upon witnessing Hata's exceptional talent and wonderful work, Kurumizawa does not feel inspiration but instead conceives a dark plan. This psychological drama unfolds in the early 1970s Japanese manga industry, where Kurumizawa, a desperate man haunted by faded glory, faces a moral crisis when he decides to exploit the younger artist's abilities for his own comeback. The story explores themes of artistic appropriation, envy, and the lengths to which someone will go for one last grasp at success. As Kurumizawa sets his scheme in motion, the narrative delves into the tense cat-and-mouse relationship between the washed-up veteran and the naive prodigy, with the manga industry's competitive and unforgiving nature serving as the backdrop. The series is authored by Yohira Tokiwa, also known as Tendai Yano, and carries genres of suspense and psychological drama. The initial premise sets up a conflict centered on stolen work and compromised morals, with the full consequences of Kurumizawas folly still unfolding as the story progresses.
