Description
The story takes place in the coastal town of Kagosaki, where dragon people who possess dragon-like features and abilities live alongside humans who worship dragons as gods. After the death of her father, a young girl named Mizuka is sent to live with her uncle in this unfamiliar town, determined to start a new life. Upon arriving at her uncle's home, she is shocked to discover the uncle's boarder is a dragon boy named Tenshin, whose tail is the first thing she sees during her move-in.
Initially, Tenshin is standoffish and seems to want nothing to do with Mizuka, coming across as a tsundere character. Their awkward relationship begins to change when Mizuka's uncle becomes lost at sea. Tenshin, being the only one who can potentially save him, performs a rescue that succeeds without any real danger to the uncle. Following this event, their bond gradually improves in a realistic manner rather than becoming close immediately.
As Mizuka learns more about the dragon people, she discovers they are all raised together at a shrine, though Tenshin left this communal living arrangement, causing tension within the dragon community. Tenshin is depicted as ridiculously popular among both humans and other dragon people, with human classmates going so far as to collect his fallen scales, behavior Mizuka points out as borderline stalking. Some dragon people who typically only interact among themselves see Tenshin as the strongest of them all and pick a fight with Mizuka for becoming close to him.
The narrative explores the mystery surrounding Tenshin, including questions about his abilities such as why his tail moves on its own, whether he can fully transform into a dragon, and if there are limits to his powers. Written by Asato Shima, the manga presents a fantasy focused on friendship and found family rather than primarily romance, with two volumes released and a third announced as the story continues.
