Description
A widowed single father and aspiring picture book author, Shoji Fujimoto, lives a quiet life dedicated to raising his young daughter, Kana, who adores watching a childrens educational TV show called Lets Sing With Our Songstress. The star of that show is Minami Takasaki, a popular singing idol whose public persona is one of cheerful innocence for her young fans. In her private life, however, Minami is strictly forbidden from having any romantic relationships, as a scandal would destroy her career.
The story begins when Shoji unexpectedly encounters Minami outside of her professional environment, away from the cameras and the cheerful set of her show. This chance meeting sparks a secret, forbidden adult relationship between the lonely television personality and the quiet father. Their connection develops in the space between Minami’s public role as an unattainable idol and her private desire for genuine human connection, all while Shoji navigates the responsibilities of single fatherhood and his own creative ambitions.
The primary setting alternates between the bright, controlled world of childrens television production and the more intimate, private spaces where the main characters can be themselves. A key figure in their dynamic is Kana, Shoji’s daughter, whose love for Minami’s show unknowingly ties the two protagonists’ worlds together. The narrative arc follows the central couple as they risk everything for their relationship, confronting the inherent conflict between public image and personal happiness. It is an adult love story that explores the loneliness behind a public facade and the lengths to which people will go for intimacy, even when the consequences of discovery could be devastating.
