Description
In the early 2000s in Tokyo, Kenji Isobe works as a low-level combatant for the Ganglion corporation, a sinister company whose stated goal is world domination. Known by his combat alias Belve, Kenji spends his days on the front lines of absurd and often bizarre missions, such as the Tokyo Cedar Pollen Operation and the Mount Fuji Demolition Plan, all while wearing nothing but a tight bodysuit. His efforts are consistently and easily thwarted by the heroic figure Hopeman, a champion of justice whose sole purpose is to defeat Belve and foil Ganglion's schemes.

Despite the grand, evil ambitions of his employer, Kenji's daily reality is a much more grounded and grueling struggle. He must navigate the soul-crushing demands of a typical Japanese workplace, dealing with unreasonable bosses, endless meetings, and the unglamorous pressures of paying rent and a mortgage. The narrative functions as a workplace drama, ironically framing the life of a professional henchman as a bittersweet salaryman comedy where the greatest threats are not just superheroes, but also incompetent superiors and the daily grind.

At home, Kenji returns to his family, including his kind and caring wife Setsuko and their young son Takashi, who are largely unaware of his secret professional life as a villain. He often finds solace at a local food stall, a regular haunt where he can decompress after work. The story follows Kenji as he struggles to survive the dawn of the compliance era, caught between his duty to the megalomaniacal corporation, the physical beatings from Hopeman, and the quiet desperation of an overworked employee just trying to get by.
