A high school sophomore named Nagi Chinuwa has long been labeled a jinx by those around him, as his chronic misfortune tends to drag friends and classmates into accidents and trouble. Because of this, he has distanced himself from his childhood friends, Kikuri and Morimichi. During a school trip, he coldly rejects Kikuri’s attempt to talk to him, but moments later, their train is caught in a bizarre accident. When Nagi regains consciousness, he and his companions discover they have arrived in Kakuriyo, a realm between the living and the dead. To return to the world of the living, they must overcome a series of divine trials known as the Festival, a brutal obstacle course that blends supernatural stakes with physical challenges inspired by the real-world sports entertainment program SASUKE. As the group navigates this deadly limbo, Nagi is forced to confront both his isolated nature and the trials themselves in a desperate fight for resurrection.
