Description
Proudly proclaiming herself omniscient and omnipotent, the French-raised heiress Keito Shioenden has transferred to a school in Japan to study the lives of common people. Despite her high intelligence and haughty demeanor, she has a fragile ego and refuses to admit when she lacks knowledge. When her classmates mention takoyaki, she is too embarrassed to confess she has never heard of it. Unwilling to show ignorance, Keito vows to make the dish herself without looking at any recipe. This sparks a recurring pattern where the young lady tackles unfamiliar Japanese street foods like curry rice, udon, and fried chicken using pure deduction and a process of trial and error.

The humor of the story comes from watching Keito attempt to recreate a dish based on nothing but its name, with her overconfident failures being a central comedic element. However, the manga is designed to avoid cruelty toward her struggles. Keito herself is a willing participant whose competitive nature keeps her going even when frustrated. She is supported by her household staff, including the sarcastic butler Tadasuke, who often subtly provokes her into new challenges, and the plump maid Botan, who looks on with eager appetite. The two servants supply ingredients, kitchen tools, and occasional hints, ensuring that the young lady never works from absolute zero and usually achieves a successful result by the end of each chapter.

The setting is largely Keito’s residence and her school, where her pride clashes with the simplicity of daily life in Japan. The narrative arcs are structured around specific mysteries, each focusing on a different B-grade gourmet item. Across the two volumes that complete the series, Keito not only learns to cook but experiences small but meaningful expansions of her worldview, growing to appreciate the common culture she initially looked down upon. The story concludes after a series of these adventures, with the final volume continuing the pattern of the know-it-all young lady miraculously succeeding in her kitchen challenges despite never admitting she was wrong.
