Description
The story follows Dirk, a beastman serving the Demon King, who is assigned a mission to steal a necklace from a hero traveling to the Demon King's castle. He descends upon a human town to carry out this task, but his attacks are so transparent and clumsy that the hero sees right through him and is instead charmed by Dirk's obviousness. Rather than treating him as a serious enemy, the hero becomes intrigued by the easygoing beastman. He tends to Dirk's injuries, playfully touches him, and proposes a challenge: Dirk has until the hero defeats the Demon King to successfully steal the necklace. This unusual wager initiates a strange and mildly erotic journey between two individuals who are supposed to be adversaries.
The main characters are Dirk, a beastman who is comically bad at being a proper villain for the Demon King, and the unnamed hero, who is perceptive, teasing, and takes an unexpected interest in his would-be attacker. The setting is a classic fantasy world of demon lords and human kingdoms, but the tone is light, fluffy, and focused entirely on the developing relationship between the pair rather than grand battles or epic quests.
Notable narrative arcs center on Dirk's repeated failed attempts to fulfill his mission while becoming increasingly entangled with the hero. The story emphasizes sweet and playful interactions, with Dirk often sleeping or being caught off guard, and the hero consistently one step ahead. The complete manga was published as a single volume by Akita Shoten under their Princess Comics DX imprint, with the story positioned as a high-sugar, soft fantasy Boys Love title that concludes with a bright future for its central couple.
