Description
Penguin Village has not gotten any more ordinary with the passage of time. Years after the original series, the chaotic and hilarious residents return in a sequel that reunites fans with the beloved, absurd world of Dr. Slump. The story picks up with the Norimaki family, where the genius yet lecherous inventor Senbei Norimaki lives with his super-strong, naive robot daughter Arale. Time has visibly passed; Senbei and Midori's son Turbo is no longer a baby but a young child, and a new member named Nitro has joined the household. The village continues to be a magnet for the bizarre, welcoming new residents like the Karte family while old rivals and friends make unexpected reappearances.

The narrative follows a series of standalone comedic adventures that capitalize on the original series' love for slapstick gags and bizarre inventions. Arale remains her indomitable, cheerful self, greeting friends with her signature N'cha while unknowingly causing massive property damage with her superhuman strength and lack of common sense. Senbei continues to dream up ridiculous gadgets that rarely work as intended, often leading to surreal situations. A new recurring source of conflict appears in the form of Dr. Mashirito, Senbei's wacky rival, who is determined to get the better of the Norimaki family.

What sets this sequel apart is its embracing of a wider shared universe, with frequent crossover appearances from characters of Akira Toriyama's other works. Most notably, Son Goku from Dragon Ball makes a significant appearance, helping to stop one of Dr. Mashirito's schemes. The story also features cameos from characters like Dragon Ball GT's Pan and Trunks, as well as figures from other Toriyama-related properties like Go! Go! Ackman, blending the various comedic and action-oriented worlds together. While Akira Toriyama acted as a supervisor, the creative direction was handled by writer Takao Koyama and artist Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, who maintained the original's vibrant, cartoonish art style and its commitment to juvenile humor and fourth-wall-breaking antics. The result is a nostalgic, celebratory return to Penguin Village that offers longtime fans a familiar yet refreshingly new dose of nonsense.
