High school student Tsumugi Hatahira is a devoted fan of Mirai, a virtual idol whose career is rapidly rising. Her world is thrown into disarray when Mirai suddenly announces her hiatus from all musical activities. In the depths of her disappointment, Tsumugi retreats to the school music preparation room, where she is stunned to hear Mirai’s signature song. She traces the voice to its source and discovers a shocking truth: the virtual idol Mirai is, in fact, her own unpleasant and arrogant classmate, Miki Aoba.

Miki is widely disliked at school for her conceited and willful nature, a stark contrast to the polished and gentle persona of the virtual idol. It is revealed that Miki quit the entertainment industry after a major conflict with her overbearing manager, who tried to control every aspect of her career. Despite their difficult real-life relationship, where they often clash, Tsumugi’s devotion to Mirai’s music is unwavering. Driven by a pure desire to see her beloved idol perform again, she makes a bold proposition. Ignoring Miki’s abrasive personality, Tsumugi volunteers to become her new personal manager, hoping to facilitate her return to the stage.

The story follows the unlikely partnership between Tsumugi, a gloomy and somewhat unreliable manager with zero practical knowledge of the music business but an abundance of passion as a fan, and Miki, a temperamental and headstrong singer who resents being controlled. Set against the backdrop of their high school and the broader entertainment world, the manga explores their struggle to rebuild Miki’s career from the ground up. Tsumugi must learn to navigate the complexities of the music industry while managing her client’s difficult personality, and Miki must confront the reasons for her past failure and learn to trust a new collaborator. As they clash over creative differences, publicity stunts, and recording sessions, the lines between fan and manager, and even between hatred and friendship, begin to blur in this musical青春青春 (seishun) comedy. The series began serialization in 2023 in Manga Time Kirara Carat, with the first collected volume released in March 2024 and the story currently ongoing.
