Manga
Description
In a society where humans and supernatural beings coexist, top-class student and otaku Hayato Yui finds himself deeply in love with his classmate, the succubus Emu Katou. Despite his feelings, Hayato is held back by a negative self-image, convinced that someone like him could never be liked by someone like her. Emu, however, reciprocates his feelings and desperately wants to grow closer to him. Yet she fears that her advances will be dismissed as nothing more than the natural behavior of her species, which carries a reputation for being overly lustful.
The two share a common bond through their mutual love for manga, particularly a sports series called Red Ping Pong. While Hayato appreciates the athletic aspects of the story, Emu enjoys shipping the characters. Their shared hobby leads them on outings to various book and manga stores, where Emu repeatedly tries to engineer accidental fan-service situations, or lucky sukebe, hoping to let Hayato fall for her naturally without making her intentions obvious as a succubus. Hayato, for his part, resists these situations, trying to prove that his attraction to her is based on her personality and not simply her supernatural nature.
The story is set in a world where various folkloric and fantasy creatures, such as vampires and werewolves, have been integrated into society. Generalizations about these species are frowned upon. This backdrop creates a central tension for both protagonists, who are each afraid that their genuine feelings will be misinterpreted because of the stereotypes surrounding succubi. The manga establishes a playful cat-and-mouse dynamic between the two main characters, centered on Emu's attempts at seduction and Hayato's efforts to navigate his own feelings while avoiding being seen as a pervert.
