Chii has always marched to the beat of her own drum. After moving to the countryside, she explores mountain roads with her childhood friend, Sen-chan, when a certain incident suddenly causes small wings to sprout from her back. This is a world where Hanebito exist – creatures that grow wings with a one-in-tens-of-thousands chance. While walking along a mountain path, Chii finds a cat stuck in a tree and determines to help it. As she reaches for the cat, small wings suddenly emerge from her back. The story follows Chii as she adjusts to life as a Winged One, enjoying laid-back, peaceful country adventures with Sen-chan and learning what it means to live with her unusual ability. The narrative focuses on the gentle, everyday moments of a girl coming into her own in a quiet rural setting.
