Manga
Description
A 35-year-old salaryman named Ryuichi Yamadera works as a salesman for a Tokyo-based company, a job that sends him on business trips across Japan. His greatest pleasure during these trips is exploring local cuisine at regional restaurants, a hobby he indulges in whenever he finishes his work. Yamadera is married with a wife named Saori and a middle-school-aged daughter named Misaki, and he considers himself an ordinary family man. However, in nearly every city he visits, he encounters a beautiful married woman while eating at a local eatery, and despite his intentions to simply enjoy the meal, he ends up having a sexual affair with her. Each chapter follows a predictable yet deliberately humorous pattern: Yamadera discovers a local specialty dish, shares a meal with a woman he meets at the restaurant, and the scene abruptly transitions from the dining table to a hotel room, with Yamadera internally lamenting how he ended up in that situation again. The manga places heavy emphasis on authentic regional foods, and after the early chapters, the restaurants depicted are real establishments that appear with permission, allowing readers to visit them in real life. The series does not follow a single overarching plot but instead presents a self-contained episode in each chapter, with Yamadera traveling to a different prefecture and meeting a new woman every time. Later in the series, the focus occasionally shifts to other characters, such as Yamadera's colleague Hibino or his younger cousin Sosuke, who find themselves in similar predicaments during their own travels. The narrative is driven by the contrast between Yamadera's genuine passion for gourmet food and his weak-willed, repeated surrender to temptation, a contradiction that forms the core comedic tension of the story.
