Description
In the Nakano district of Tokyo, two elementary school students cross paths when Getsudō Yoru moves into the house next to Hinata Asahi’s. Asahi is a cheery, straightforward boy eager to make a new friend, while Yoru is cool, aloof, and seems to excel at every game he touches. Their personalities clash at first, but the card game Vanguard becomes the unexpected bridge between them. Both are utter beginners—Asahi has never played before, and Yoru has only a vague grasp of the rules. Their journey begins as they learn the game together from scratch, discovering its strategies and the thrill of card fights side by side. The manga follows this dual-protagonist setup, emphasizing the growth of two novices who rely on each other as they take their first steps into the world of Vanguard. Created by writer and illustrator Makoto Daienbō with supervision by Akira Itō, the story launched in 2026 and centers on the bond forged through shared discovery and the excitement of mastering a new challenge. Early chapters introduce the fundamentals of play and the contrasting approaches of the two leads, setting the stage for future rivalries and deeper narrative arcs as they encounter other fighters and advance beyond their initial zero-knowledge starting point.
