The demonic yin-yang stone known as the Left Hook and Right Hook contains two mischievous, sentient halves. When the dark half, Samaga, awakens in the storage room of Dōmori Elementary School, it begins snatching students from the familiar 5th year class 3 and trapping them inside famous ghost stories and historical legends from across Japan. The school’s resident teacher-exorcist, Meisuke Nueno ― better known by his nickname Nube ― quickly discovers that the runaway yin half is using the stone’s power to warp time and space, pulling children like Hiroshi Tateno and Kyōko Inaba into the roles of characters such as the earless monk Hōichi or a Heian-period court lady. With the help of the yang half, Ukyō, which can temporarily animate vehicles to travel through eras, Nube pursues his students into these classic tales, confronting the yōkai and vengeful spirits that inhabit them while trying to bring everyone home safely. Each story arc becomes both a rescue mission and a hands-on history lesson, as Nube and the children encounter figures like the kappa, the bridge princess Hashihime, and the demon chieftain Shuten Dōji. The Left Hook and Right Hook prove to be recurring nuisances, always escaping to drag another student into a different legend, forcing Nube to hop from one era to another while balancing his duties as a teacher and protector. Meanwhile, the usual comic relief and school-life dynamics remain, as the students deal with classroom punishments, bullies, and their own personal wishes, all while Nube unleashes his sealed demon hand whenever the supernatural threat becomes too great. This latest continuation of the Hell Teacher saga returns to the original cast of characters from the 1990s serialization and emphasizes time-slip adventures through Japan’s folklore and history, blending horror, comedy, and educational content.
