He awakens in a world where giants stride across the land and dragons soar through the sky — a fantasy realm populated by humans, magical beasts, and warring kingdoms. Stripped of his explicit memories of baseball but retaining the sharp instincts and unshakable philosophy that defined his career, Ochiai — now called Ochi by the locals — must navigate this unfamiliar world using only his wits, his competitive spirit, and what he calls his Ore-ryū, or my-way approach to problem-solving.

Ochi finds himself in a small village under the protection of a barrier maintained by the kingdom of Rottenburg. When he clashes with the kingdom's prince and uses a improvised batting technique to knock back a fiery magical pitch — a move the natives call the Flame Magic Ball and Ochi instinctively executes as his legendary shushu打法, or deity-style hitting — the prince retaliates by removing the village's protective结界. A tiger divine beast attacks the settlement, but a dragon divine beast suddenly descends, defeats the tiger, and entrusts Ochi with a pentagonal scale that resembles a baseball home plate. This scale becomes a new结界 for the village, and the dragon's cryptic mission sets Ochi on a path to discover who he truly is.

As Ochi settles into the village, he encounters the muscular, slick-backed chief of the Forest People, whose trade with the kingdom has been cut off due to the earlier conflict. The chief presents Ochi with an impossible demand: turn the forest's特产 yams into gold and silver. Ochi instead invents a packaged snack called Ore-ryu Fried Yam, sold with collectible cards, which becomes a runaway success. The king of Rottenburg summons Ochi to the capital and throws him into the dungeon known as the Birdcage, where Ochi meets a gambler called Tonbi and a woman who bears an uncanny resemblance to his wife Nobuko. With the help of allies he gathers along the way, Ochi eventually escapes and helps save the kingdom from a larger crisis.

After Rottenburg is secured, the dragon divine beast reappears and carries Ochi to the skies above Hamulgard, an island nation in the northern sea. There, a flamboyantly dressed masked man riding a fox divine beast intercepts him, claiming to be a reincarnated person like Ochi and attacking with powerful curses. To uncover the masked man's identity and purpose, Ochi forms the Dragon Knights and sets sail for Hamulgard by sea, marking the beginning of a larger adventure that expands beyond the borders of a single kingdom.

The supporting cast draws inspiration from figures in Japanese baseball history, with character designs and personalities that subtly echo real players and personnel from the NPB. The narrative incorporates actual anecdotes and legendary stories from Ochiai's career, adapted to fit the fantasy setting.
