Description
A 30-something office worker dies and is reborn as Eselia, the villainess of the otome game Crystal Labyrinth she had been playing. While she knows she must avoid the "destruction route" that leads to exile, a far greater crisis immediately presents itself: this new world has no entertainment. There are no smartphones, no video games, and perhaps most tragically for her, no doujinshi or romance novels. Overwhelmed by the sheer boredom of her new life, she decides that if entertainment does not exist, she will create it herself.

Using the knowledge and memories of her previous life, Eselia begins inventing a wide variety of pastimes. She introduces toys like othello, kendama, and board games, and later begins writing and publishing romance novels, including works that can be read as BL. Her entrepreneurial efforts quickly gain favor with the queen, and she becomes a successful businesswoman and a respected figure in the royal court. However, her attempts to alter her fate by changing the game's scenario backfire when the novels she wrote cause new and unforeseen destruction flags to arise.

As the story progresses, Eselia is forced into a political engagement with Crown Prince Gradict, a vain and arrogant man who values sycophants and believes Eselia has only clung to him for status. Eselia, who wants nothing more than to be free of him so she can focus on her businesses, quietly schemes to make Gradict break the engagement from his side. Her plans become more urgent when the game's designated heroine, Alistair, appears. Alistair has read Eselia's romance novel and has become convinced that she is the real-life heroine destined to be with the prince. Gradict, enjoying Alistair's blind worship, falls for her easily, and the two form a "flower-garden couple" who are oblivious to the chaos they cause. The pair grows increasingly hostile toward Eselia, intent on framing her for villainous acts to justify a public breaking of the engagement.

The story unfolds in a Western-style fantasy kingdom with a rigid aristocratic structure. Early arcs focus on Eselia's childhood and teenage years as she establishes her business empire and a network of allies, including a secret society of high-society ladies who are now avid readers of her BL novels. Later arcs shift to the royal academy, the setting of the original game, where Eselia must navigate the escalating provocations of Gradict and Alistair while continuing her social and economic reforms. A major turning point is the long-awaited public court hearing, where Eselia finally unleashes a carefully prepared counterattack against her accusers, aiming to secure her freedom once and for all.
