Description
Yazu, a mild-mannered college student working the night shift at a supermarket, becomes entangled in the extraordinary secret of his coworker Suzuki. Suzuki is no ordinary middle-aged woman; she is a great wizard from a magical world who was forcibly transported to this one. During her arrival, she was afflicted with a curse that makes it impossible for her to read any text—a crippling limitation that prevents her from reclaim her lost magical power and returning home. Desperate, Suzuki enlists Yazu to read for her, but the books in question are not physical volumes. They are the hidden stories of people's hearts—the innermost truths, secrets, and traumas concealed within each person's mind. By entering these psychic manuscripts, Yazu uncovers the painful realities of those around them, from a coworker's petty malice to deeper societal darkness. With each book read, Suzuki recovers a fraction of her former strength, but the process is slow and fraught with danger. Other beings from her world have also crossed over, some as hostile pursuers like the relentless Cassias, eager to eliminate the powerless archmage she has become. Meanwhile, allies such as the wizard Tonitrus appear, and a witch named Corail arrives seeking her own path in the mundane world, taking work at a concept café. As Yazu delves deeper into the hearts of strangers and confronts the shadows within them, he begins to notice the small, gentle miracles that exist in everyday life—a reminder of the "little magic" everyone possesses. The narrative unfolds in a blend of low-key supermarket camaraderie, psychological exploration, and gentle fantasy, with each arc revealing another layer of Suzuki's past, the laws of the other world, and the fragile connections that bind people across realities.
