Description
Since high school, the quiet, glasses-wearing Makoto Hishikawa and the effortlessly popular Naoya Senzaki have shared a secret they call "friendship" – a private ritual of "feeling good" using the vibrations of Naoya's phone. Now they have passed their entrance exams and entered the same university, still calling each other best friends. But the label has begun to chafe. Makoto finally understands that back in high school, Naoya's comment "We're probably really in love with each other" was a confession, not a joke. The realization makes him awkward around Naoya, and he starts pulling away, convinced he does not deserve to stand beside someone so charismatic.
Naoya notices the distance and grows anxious, unsure why Makoto is avoiding him. Meanwhile, the new campus environment gives Makoto his first genuine female friend, Nico-pi, who helps him talk through his feelings. With her encouragement, Makoto gathers the courage to confess directly, and Naoya accepts with overwhelming warmth. What follows is their clumsy, tender transition from "best friends" to boyfriends: their first official date, the first time they move beyond their old secret games, and the challenge of navigating jealousy and insecurity now that love is out in the open. Nascent friendships with upperclassmen and the pressures of university life test their bond, but Makoto's growing confidence and Naoya's unwavering devotion push them to define a relationship that was always more than friendship.
