Description
The story takes place at a small café called Sunny Side Up, located on a busy street in an unnamed town. The café’s cheerful and resourceful waitress, Tamako, is the heart of the establishment, known for her friendly demeanor and willingness to help anyone who walks through the door. Living in the apartment directly above the café is a man who calls himself a “workman,” Tsubaki Kōtarō, a mysterious figure who takes on odd jobs and troubles that others cannot or will not handle. Together, Tamako and Kōtarō become the go‑to pair for a steady stream of unusual situations that the café’s customers bring to their doorstep. These episodes range from small personal dilemmas to larger, more bizarre incidents, blending comedy, slice‑of‑life encounters, and lighthearted mystery. The manga focuses on the evolving dynamic between Tamako’s warm, everyday practicality and Kōtarō’s more detached, problem‑solver approach, while the regular cast of quirky patrons ensures that no two days at Sunny Side Up are ever the same. Over the course of the series, the narrative explores themes of community, trust, and the small acts of kindness that keep a neighborhood together, presented through episodic arcs that balance humor with genuine moments of connection.
