Description
Yamamoto Itto is a programmer at a large game company. He loves video games and enjoys programming, but he grows restless working on massive projects where his individual contribution feels lost among hundreds of colleagues. At a game event, he meets Kanjiya Haruka, a passionate indie game developer who works alone on her own titles. Impressed by his skills and drawn to her creative freedom, Itto decides to team up with Haruka to develop an indie game. Together they plunge into the chaotic, exhilarating world of indie development, where small teams can bring bold ideas to life.
As they begin work, the duo is joined by Sua Ludwig, a wealthy Korean heiress with a talent for visual art, and her butler Jonghak, who handles logistics and business. Later, Nagamine, a representative from a publishing company, also becomes involved. The team pours their energy into creating a game called Falling Down, navigating technical hurdles, tight deadlines, and the pressure of standing out at events like BitSummit. They face confrontations with publishers who want to control their vision, but they persist in chasing the pure joy of creation.
The story follows their journey from concept to launch, highlighting the highs of creative synergy, the lows of creative burnout, and the bonds forged through shared passion. Each character brings unique motivations—Haruka’s determination to prove herself, Sua’s desire for artistic freedom, and Itto’s rediscovery of purpose. The manga explores the real-world indie development scene, including game jams, funding challenges, and the thrill of seeing a finished product played by others. Through triumphs and setbacks, the team learns that making games is a lifelong adventure, not just a destination.
