Kouta Narumi is a second-year high school student whose mother has remarried, bringing a talented new step-sister into his life. Unable to adjust to the changed family dynamic and feeling like he has no place at home, he takes a part-time job to get out of the house and spends his evenings at a family restaurant, lingering there until closing time. One day, he encounters his classmate Kohaku Kazemiya at the same restaurant. She is a solitary and beautiful girl who keeps to herself, and he learns that she, too, is struggling with problems at home. What begins as awkward small talk turns into a shared ritual: after school, the two meet at the family restaurant to complain about their respective family situations and pass the time together, turning what was once a lonely escape into something genuinely enjoyable. Over the course of the story, they grow closer as they navigate their personal challenges, from the tensions in Kouta's blended household to the pressures Kohaku faces from her mother. In the second volume, after final exams, Kohaku's mother forbids her from going out, prompting her to run away from home. What follows is a spontaneous two-person escape that includes a trip to hot springs and late-night conversations at the family restaurant, a fleeting summer idyll that forces both of them to confront the realities waiting for them at home.
