Description
"From the New World" is a dystopian science fiction manga series set in a future where humanity has developed psychic powers known as "Cantus." The story unfolds in a seemingly utopian society where humans live in harmony, but this tranquility is maintained through strict control and suppression of dissent. The narrative centers on Saki Watanabe, a young girl who awakens her Cantus and begins attending a special school to hone her abilities. Alongside her friends—Satoru Asahina, Maria Akizuki, Mamoru Itou, and Shun Aonuma—Saki gradually uncovers the dark truths underlying their society.

The society is governed by a rigid hierarchy and enforced by the "Ethics Committee," which monitors and eliminates individuals deemed dangerous or unstable. The use of Cantus is tightly regulated, and any deviation from societal norms is met with severe consequences. As Saki and her peers grow older, they begin to question the morality of their world, particularly the treatment of the "Queerats," a subservient species of genetically modified humans who serve as laborers and soldiers. The Queerats are often subjected to brutal exploitation, and their existence raises ethical dilemmas about the nature of power and oppression.

The story takes a dramatic turn when Saki and her friends encounter a rogue Queerat colony led by Squealer, a cunning and ambitious leader who challenges the status quo. Squealer's rebellion exposes the fragility of the human society and the lengths to which its rulers will go to maintain control. The narrative delves into themes of genetic manipulation, societal control, and the consequences of unchecked power, as Saki and her friends grapple with their roles in a world built on lies and violence.

As the plot progresses, Saki uncovers the horrifying origins of her society, including the systematic elimination of individuals who fail to develop Cantus and the genetic engineering that created the Queerats. The series explores the psychological toll of living in such a world, as characters are forced to confront their own complicity and the moral compromises required to survive. The story culminates in a climactic confrontation between the human society and the Queerats, revealing the true cost of maintaining order and the potential for change in a deeply flawed world.

"From the New World" is a thought-provoking exploration of power, morality, and the human condition, presenting a complex narrative that challenges readers to question the nature of authority and the ethics of survival. The characters' journeys are marked by loss, betrayal, and self-discovery, creating a compelling and emotionally resonant story.
