The episode begins on a cold day at Saku's house. She searches for the kotatsu, a warming piece of furniture, and recalls a previous accident where it got burned. Her attempt to make amends by suggesting buying a new one meets with Yukichi's firm resistance.


When Saku's secret online purchase for a new piece of furniture is thwarted by Yukichi, he goes to the supermarket. There, he discovers a lottery for a kotatsu, but he doesn't win. Returning home empty-handed, he is surprised to find Saku absent. His worry is short-lived, however, as she arrives with great news: she has won a kotatsu!


The narrative shifts when a package from Saku's mother arrives, containing cat food for Yukichi. Soon, she has a request for Saku: a picture of Yukichi. With Yukichi's help, they manage to take a photo where he appears very small. But there’s more from Saku’s mother. Shortly after, another package arrives, containing a knife sharpener—a gift that delights Yukichi.


As the episode progresses, Saku's mother grows increasingly curious about Yukichi and wants to hear him meow. Given his atypical nature, Saku sends her a recording of Yukichi's purring. To conclude the episode, Yukichi, fascinated by the sharpener, uses it and prepares a delicious meal for Saku.
