In this year's July issue of Kodansha's Monthly Shonen Sirius magazine, it was announced that Hitsuji Yamada's manga The Masterful Cat Is Depressed Again Today (Dekiru Neko wa Kyou mo Yuuutsu) will receive a TV anime adaptation in 2023.

Hitsuji Yamada began drawing the slice-of-life comedy manga as a web comic in the Challenge section of comico in October 2017. In August 2018, the manga's serialization continued in the magazine Suiyoubi no Sirius. Dekiru Neko wa Kyou mo Yuuutsu has a cumulative circulation of 900,000 copies.

Further details, such as staff, cast, and production studio, will be announced at a later date.

Seven Seas Entertainment has licensed the manga and describes the story as follows:

When Saku took in a stray black cat, she never expected him to become the equivalent of a domestic life partner. But Yukichi, a giant cat who towers over Saku, is no ordinary feline. He takes great pride in his culinary skills, and a good deal at the supermarket always makes his whiskers twitch. Saku may not have her life together yet, but at least she has Yukichi!
