In the third episode of "Metallic Rouge," Naomi and Rouge arrive in Wellstown, not only to experience an adventure but also to fulfill an important mission. Naomi's first task is to hand over the core of Viola, known as the "Id," in exchange for a new cybernetic bird to another agent. Wellstown is the largest Nean settlement on Mars and a crucial part of their mission to find Phantom Verde, one of the Immortal Nine.


The duo takes a moment to relax and treats themselves to a steam bath. Naomi enjoys a meal and opts for a large crustacean. During this break, a personal conflict arises between Naomi and Rouge. Rouge discovers that Naomi has given away her chocolate stash to the neighborhood children, leading to a heated argument. Rouge's claim that she has free will is met with Naomi's blunt remark that she is merely a tool of Aletheia. This intense exchange causes Rouge to storm off in anger, symbolized by her breaking her golden earplug.


Later in the episode, Rouge independently defends a Nean boy against aggressive individuals posing as police officers. This confrontation accidentally leads to a path into the closed-off Nean settlement. Dr. Afdal, a human doctor, assists Rouge by intervening with the police and using nectar as a bribe. The show highlights the plight of the Neans through Dr. Afdal's daily experiences with them, emphasizing their poor living conditions and limited resources.


Rouge's presence in the settlement does not go unnoticed. She encounters the Council of Free Neans (CFN), a group that includes Huey, whom she had met earlier. The CFN, led by Juval, a Nean child, lives under oppressive conditions. Their settlement, originally intended as a self-governed refuge for Neans, is now under human control. The episode explores the restrictions imposed on the Neans by the Asimov Code, which prevents them from harming humans, thereby suppressing their resistance efforts.


Juval, seeing potential in the Alter-Nean Rouge, subtly suggests that she join the CFN. Before she can respond, the plot takes a dark turn. Juval is found dead under suspicious circumstances, just as Naomi locates Rouge. This discovery coincides with the arrival of CFN members and a statement from Naomi identifying Juval as a key figure. The episode hints at a larger scheme involving unknown forces.
