Tom Deininger was a German actor and voice artist, born on September 29, 1950, in Munich. His career spanned several decades, during which he became a prominent figure in German dubbing, lending his voice to thousands of roles in film and television. Before his extensive voice work, Deininger was one of the first moderators at the private Berlin radio station Hundert,6 and later worked as the "Geschichten-Bär" at Radio Teddy. He was also a stage actor, performing at the Berlin Tribune, the Komödie am Kurfürstendamm, and the Berlin Kriminal Theater, where he appeared in classic thriller plays such as Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap and Witness for the Prosecution.

In the realm of animation and anime, Deininger contributed his voice to a wide array of characters. As noted, he played the role of Luini in the anime series Romeo and the Black Brothers. His other notable anime roles included the villainous Etemon in Digimon, King Cold, the father of Freezer, in Dragon Ball Z, and Bud Gleeful in Gravity Falls. He also voiced characters in numerous other animated series, such as the titular character Baloo in TaleSpin, Motz in a German version of Maya the Bee, and Faxe in Wickie and the Strong Men.

Beyond anime, Deininger's dubbing work was prolific and wide-ranging. He was the regular German voice for actors like Wayne Knight, Richard Griffiths, and Glenn Shadix. Some of his most famous dubbing roles included Fozzie Bear in various Muppet movies, Sergeant Schultz in a later German synchronization of Hogan's Heroes, and Herman Munster in The Munsters. His film dubbing credits spanned major Hollywood productions, where he voiced characters in films such as The Running Man, Basic Instinct, Slumdog Millionaire, and the Shrek series, among many others.

Tom Deininger passed away on July 22, 2022, in Berlin at the age of 71. His extensive body of work left a significant mark on German dubbing, making him a familiar and beloved voice for generations of viewers.
