Description
Etemon serves as the second major antagonist encountered by the chosen children in their journey across the Digital World, specifically acting as the primary threat on the continent of Server. He is an Ultimate level Digimon and a creation of the larger villain Apocalymon, positioning him in a lineage of antagonists that includes Devimon and Myotismon. His background is defined by his mastery of the Dark Network, a technological infrastructure that allows him to pinpoint the location of anyone within his domain and command a vast army of subordinate Digimon.
In terms of personality, Etemon is characterized by the flamboyant persona of an Elvis Presley impersonator. He possesses an enormously over-inflated ego and considers himself a great musical talent, often forcing his minions to listen to and praise his singing, which is objectively terrible. He becomes easily frustrated when others fail to acknowledge his perceived greatness, and his behavior is generally more jovial and deranged than the purely sinister nature of other villains, operating as a kind of crime lord or megalomaniacal performer rather than a dark lord. He rules a large portion of the Server continent from his base, an inverted pyramid that houses the core of the Dark Network. A particularly significant relationship is with Datamon, a Digimon whom Etemon defeated and imprisoned within his pyramid. Etemon forced Datamon to administer his Dark Network, but this act of subjugation would lead to his undoing when Datamon sought revenge. Etemon also has a notable, if brief, rivalry with the Dark Master Puppetmon after his return as MetalEtemon, with the two engaging in a humorous but destructive fight.
