Nakaya has stated that his interest in becoming a voice actor began in elementary school, inspired by his love of anime. He is also known for his dedication to his roles; for instance, he observed motion capture sessions for Ichiban Kasuga to better understand how his character's movements would inform his vocal performance. In addition to his native Japanese, he has voiced characters in dubbed versions of foreign productions, such as Dave in the animated series Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous.
