A prizewinning graduate of the Conservatoire national supérieur d'art dramatique in 1966, he built a strong foundation on the stage, performing in numerous plays by classical and contemporary authors, including works by Racine, Molière, Camus, and Ionesco. His theatre work has involved long-standing collaborations with directors such as Jean-Laurent Cochet and Arnaud Denis, in whose company he also served as an administrator.
