Mari Maruta is a Japanese female voice actor and singer born on April 25, 1961, in Tokyo. Interested in painting and manga from a young age, she attended an art university where she was a member of the manga research club. She is affiliated with the talent management firm ArtsVision. In addition to her voice acting career, Maruta is also active as a jazz singer and has won awards such as the Asakusa Amateur Jazz Contest vocal division award.

Maruta began her voice acting career in the early 1990s. Her filmography includes a wide range of roles in anime, OVAs, theatrical films, and video games. Some of her notable television anime roles include Kouji Hoshiyama in Matchless Raijin-Oh, Bei in Tama and Friends, and various characters in long-running series such as Ninja Boy Rantaro, Soreike! Anpanman, and Doraemon, where she voiced Nobita's grandmother. She has also appeared in the Case Closed franchise.

Her work extends to other media, including original video animations and theatrical films. She voiced Kaori in the 1990 OVA Super Real Mahjong: Mahjong Battle Scramble and Kikusaburō Oaki in the 1997 film Bakumatsu no Spasibo. Maruta also provided voices for the Kiki to Lala titles Kiki to Lala no Hakuchōza no Ohime-sama and Kiki to Lala no Ohime-sama ni Naritai. She reprised her role as Bei from Tama and Friends for the 2019 anthology film Dayan to Tama to Tobi Neko to: Mittsu no Neko no Monogatari.

Beyond anime, Maruta has contributed to video games, lending her voice to characters in titles such as the Super Real Mahjong series and The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. She has also performed voice work for tokusatsu productions, notably as the voice of Dapp in the Super Sentai series Car Ranger.

Maruta's voice is known for its versatility, capable of portraying characters ranging from young children to adult women and elderly individuals. In the 2000s, she formed the music unit Wild Strawberry with fellow voice actors Kikuko Inoue and Junko Ogasawara.
