Kousuke Oono is a Japanese manga artist best known as the creator of the comedy manga series The Way of the Househusband, also known by its original Japanese title, Gokushufudou. He was born in Shiga Prefecture, and his birthday is recorded as December 31, though the year of his birth is not publicly documented. Oono pursued formal education in manga at Kyoto Seika University. Before achieving success with his own series, he spent approximately nine years working as an assistant to other established manga artists, including Yoshiaki Sukeno.

Oono's first original manga publication came in 2016 with a short series titled Legend of Music, which was published by Shinchosha. He created several other short comedy stories before beginning his breakout work. The Way of the Househusband began as a five-chapter limited series in the online manga magazine Kurage Bunch on February 23, 2018. Due to its immediate popularity, the series was upgraded to an ongoing serialization starting on May 18, 2018. The manga is published in print by Shinchosha under their Bunch Comics imprint and is licensed for English release in North America by Viz Media. As of 2025, the series has released 14 collected tankōbon volumes, with over 8.5 million copies in circulation worldwide. The manga has also received multiple awards, including an Eisner Award in 2020 in the Best Humor Publication category.

The premise of The Way of the Househusband follows a feared former yakuza boss known as the Immortal Dragon, who has retired from a life of crime to become a dedicated househusband supporting his career-driven wife, Miku. The series is episodic and comedic, deriving much of its humor from the contrast between Tatsu's intimidating yakuza mannerisms and appearance and the mundane realities of domestic tasks like cooking, cleaning, and shopping.

The success of the manga led to several major adaptations. A live-action television drama premiered on Nippon TV in Japan in October 2020, starring Hiroshi Tamaki as Tatsu. A live-action film was also released in June 2022. An original net animation (ONA) series was produced by the studio J.C. Staff, with Chiaki Kon serving as director. The anime adaptation began streaming on Netflix in April 2021, followed by a second season in January 2023. The anime is noted for its use of limited animation, which emulates the visual style of a motion comic, a deliberate creative choice that distinguishes it from more fluidly animated productions.

Oono's work on The Way of the Househusband is noted for its high-concept premise and easy-to-understand characters, which his editors have acknowledged was designed with internet and digital audiences in mind from the planning stage.
