Aju Makita

Description
Aju Makita is a Japanese actress who was born on August 7, 2002, in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. While she is primarily known for her extensive work in live-action film and television, she has also taken on prominent roles in anime voice acting. Her career in entertainment began at a young age; she made her acting debut at seven years old.

Makita's entry into voice acting for anime came in 2021 when she was cast in two major animated film projects. Her first role was as the lead character Kanna in the fantasy film Child of Kamiari Month. In this film, she voices a young girl named Kanna who, after the death of her mother, is tasked with a journey to bring offerings to a gathering of gods in Izumo. Her second voice role that same year was as Shiori Sato in the science fiction romance film To Me, the One Who Loved You. She also voiced the same character, Shiori Sato, in its companion film, To Every You I've Loved Before, which was released in 2022. These films present parallel stories from different perspectives, and her role in both represents her most significant body of voice acting work to date.

Apart from these specific roles, information regarding recurring collaborations with specific directors, voice actors, or studios in the anime industry is limited. Her filmography is overwhelmingly dominated by live-action performances, and her voice acting credits are currently confined to the three films mentioned.

Despite her limited number of voice acting credits, Makita is a highly accomplished and awarded actress in Japan. Her live-action performances have earned her numerous accolades. She won the Best New Artist award at the 43rd Hochi Film Awards in 2018 for her role in Shino Can't Say Her Name. She later received the Best Supporting Actress award from several prestigious organizations, including the Mainichi Film Awards and the Hochi Film Awards, for her performance in the 2020 film True Mothers. Her work in True Mothers also earned her the Best Supporting Actress award at the 15th Asian Film Awards and the Newcomer of the Year award at the 44th Japan Academy Film Prize.
