Miki Yakata

Description
Miki Yakata is a Japanese voice actor and former idol singer who began her entertainment career as a member of the popular idol group SKE48. Born in 1992 in Oita Prefecture, she joined SKE48 as a third-generation trainee in November 2009 and remained with the group until her graduation in February 2017. During her time as an idol, she was a member of Team KII and later Team S, for which she also served as co-leader.

Following her departure from SKE48, Yakata pursued her childhood dream of becoming a voice actor. In January 2018, she joined TYK Promotion, a talent agency based in Nagoya, and made her voice acting debut in 2020. Her transition to this new career path was documented in an NHK documentary titled "Breast Cancer Diary 2020: Keeping a Dream Alive," which chronicled her experiences after being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018 and her determination to continue pursuing her aspirations while undergoing treatment.

Yakata's early voice acting roles demonstrate a connection to regional production initiatives, particularly those based in the Nagoya area. She was cast as Benio Myōjin in the original science fiction drama anime Shikizakura, a production by Chukyo TV and animation studio Sublimation that emphasized sourcing local talent from the Tōkai region. Benio Myōjin is characterized as the eldest daughter of a family of shrine maidens dedicated to sealing away supernatural creatures known as oni, and she serves as the older sister to another central character, Ōka Myōjin. This role was secured through auditions held specifically for the anime.

Another confirmed voice role for Yakata is Yūta in the promotional net anime Inzai Aru Aru Monogatari. This series, which premiered in January 2022, was produced to promote the city of Inzai in Chiba Prefecture and is based on a four-panel manga of the same name. Her casting in these projects highlights her early work in regional and promotional anime productions.
