Nachi Kio

Description
Nachi Kio is a Japanese scenario writer, novelist, and graphic designer from Osaka Prefecture. His career is distinguished by a unique blend of visual design and narrative creation, moving from a background in advertising and graphic design to become the original creator behind several multimedia franchises.

Before establishing himself as a writer, Kio worked as a designer. He was the representative of the creative studio Komeworks, through which he provided logo and title design for numerous anime productions. His early design credits include work on Hidamari Sketch, Kamisama Hajimemashita, and the Gochuumon wa Usagi Desuka? series. This design experience has had a lasting influence on his creative philosophy, emphasizing the importance of how information is visually presented to an audience.

Kio made his debut as a writer contributing to scenarios for visual novels, including work on Pastel Kitchen and the Grisaia series. He served as the main scenario writer and planner for the visual novel Ao no Kanata no Four Rhythm, which later received an anime adaptation. He was also involved in the Circlet Princess project as the original plan creator and series composition writer for its anime adaptation.

Nachi Kio is best known as the original creator of Remake Our Life! (Bokutachi no Remake). The series began as a light novel published under Media Factory's MF Bunko J imprint, with illustrations by Eretto. The main series ran for twelve volumes from March 2017 to March 2023, alongside a spin-off titled Bokutachi no Remake Ver.β. The story follows a struggling game developer who travels ten years into the past to redo his college years and pursue his creative ambitions. A manga adaptation illustrated by Bonjin Hirameki was serialized by Kodansha from November 2018 to April 2022. For the 2021 anime television adaptation produced by studio Feel, Kio took on the roles of series composer and scriptwriter, in addition to being credited as the original creator.

A recurring theme in Kio's work is the creative process itself. Remake Our Life! directly explores the struggles, collaborations, and aspirations of young artists, game developers, writers, and musicians. This focus reflects his own professional journey, which involved transitioning from a corporate designer to an independent creator and novelist. His hands-on experience across different creative disciplines gives his stories a perspective rooted in the practical realities of artistic production.

Nachi Kio holds a significant position in the industry as a creator who successfully bridges the gap between design and writing. His background as an art director and logo designer informs his holistic approach to media franchises, where visual identity is given as much importance as the narrative. His ability to serve as both the original author and the lead scriptwriter for the anime adaptation of Remake Our Life! demonstrates a rare level of creative control and involvement in the transition of a work from page to screen.
