This manga was adapted into an original net animation series titled Oshiete Hokusai!: The Animation. The story follows a lazy high school girl named Tenkorin Okakura who wishes to become a great artist without effort, leading the god Raijin to summon historical Japanese painters to teach her.

Iwakiri’s work is consistently tied to his personal interest in Japanese art, which serves as the central theme of Teach Me, Hokusai! In this capacity, he functions as both the original author and the director of its screen adaptation, marking a significant role in bringing an educational story about Japanese art history to a wider audience. His earlier credit on Kaede Newtown establishes a history of work in original anime film direction.
